If your ridge tiles are cracking or your mortar keeps failing, a dry-fix system is the modern answer. Here is how it works.

The problem with mortar

Traditionally, ridge and verge tiles were bedded on mortar. Over time that mortar cracks, crumbles and lets go — especially in our freeze-thaw winters — so tiles slip and water gets in. It needs re-pointing every so often.

How dry-fix works

A dry ridge or dry verge system fixes the tiles mechanically with clamps and screws instead of mortar. It is ventilated, weather-tight and does not rely on mortar that can fail.

Why it is better

Dry-fix is maintenance-free, far more storm-resistant, and now the recommended standard on new and re-roofed properties. If you are having roof work done, it is well worth fitting dry-fix at the same time.
